Today's song of the day is “An Honest Mistake” by The Bravery, yet it is certainly no mistake. Ahh I'm cringing at having said that, but because we're so very witty and self-deprecating here, I'll keep it in for comic effect. And now having alerted you to how bad the pun was, this comic situation has become yet more hilarious. You're welcome comedy.
I can't believe I didn't get into The Bravery sooner. They blend upbeat Libertines-esque punky rhythms, Killers-esque dance beats, and then sprinkle it with a bit of The Horrors' experimental spice, giving us an incredible sound. It's simple, yet experimental, and that's a balance I always find welcome in music.
Lead vocalist Sam Endicott's vocals are reminiscent of Ian Curtis's deep vocal style, but with a bit more “pizzazz” behind it. They sound like a fusion of Joy Division with The Libertines, and they're incredible. The bravery of The Bravery's music has glorious results. I couldn't resist that last pun. I apologise. But yes, it's a top banana song.
